And, lastly, she won a poetry contest in high school, which began her love of writing for public viewing.

After a family health crisis, Sue Gregg began to question how to improve the nutritional value of the food she served her family. Nine months on a rigorous, restrictive health food diet, while successful in weight control and health renewal, presented too many obstacles and evoked too much resistance from her family. That experience convinced her that few meat and potatoes eaters would tolerate drastic dietary diversions.

“Would it be possible to transform familiar family recipes?” Sue wondered and began experimenting with better quality ingredients (white flour to whole grain, refined white sugar to honey, hydrogenated fats to non-hydrogenated) to convert old favorites such as minute bran muffins and cinnamon rolls. Trial and error testing eventually achieved the results she was looking for.
Her success did not remain hidden. Others with similar concerns soon requested demonstrations, recipes, and cooking classes. Recipes accumulated and cookbooks followed. Sue shares her expertise with the readers of The Mother’s Heart Magazine.

Barry Stebbing is the creator of How Great Thou ART Publications. Currently, he has over a dozen art texts specifically created to instruct homeschooling students of all ages in the fundamentals of drawing and the academics of color theory and painting.

For The Mother’s Heart magazine Barry shares just how to teach art in the homeschool. During the past 10 years, he and his wife, Saundra, have traveled extensively throughout North America speaking at homeschooling conventions on the topic of art and giving three day art classes. They estimate they have personally instructed over 50,000 homeschoolers in such a capacity.

His degree is in fine arts and art education, attending the Maryland Institute of Art, University of Maryland, Salisbury University, and doing graduate studies in painting with the University of Georgia in Cortona, Italy. Many years were spent teaching art in the public schools and, several years ago, he and his wife took off and he painted the back roads of America, doing three oil paintings in each state.

She has won several titles and awards which, along with her scholarships, have helped pay for college.

The Country Baker was started back in 1994 when she tasted the most deliciously light and fluffy piece of bread from flour milled in a grain mill and kneaded in a Bosch Universal Mixer owned by a friend. She couldn’t believe how tasty the bread was but the ‘lightness’ of the texture was what really intrigued her. This was bread that her children would eat sandwiches from! After seeing how the entire process worked, (it only took 1 ½ hours from start to finish!) she knew she had to have these machines! Convincing her husband would be a task, she says, but "If I could just get him to taste the bread!" She did and was soon the proud owner of a Bosch Mixer and a Grain mill!

Her enthusiasm for great-tasting bread - the kind that the kids eat the crust on - immediately led into the creation of The Country Baker. Originally starting out as a small ‘hobby’ business, it’s grown full-force and they now offer a wide-range of products for the home baker. Denise also teaches bread-making classes.
